Too close for comfort

Too close for comfort

Why do people think it is acceptable to remain seated next to someone when the rest of the carriage is empty..

The average seat on most trains is tight to say the least, especially for a 6ft-2 man..but to insist on keeping him pinned into it is frankly unacceptable.

  1. Got on a small Southern train yesterday which was crowded. People were sitting in first class which I know happens when trains are full. The area wasn't even a separate compartment. The only thing I could see that posh commuters were getting for their extra dosh in first class was a branded antimacassar on the seat. Maybe this is what Tory MPs need to travel but it doesn't seem necessary to me!

  2. There used to be a time when one could travel in first class and not mix with those damn Riff Raff...It does seem odd now that buying a first class ticket only guarantees that you have to fight with whoever has grabbed the seat.
At least you can now guarantee that First Class travellers are suffering the same indignities that we have to.
